Product FAQs

Mortuary sleeves are specialized protective undergarments designed to isolate and contain fluids localized in the upper extremities. They cover the arm from the wrist all the way up to the upper arm or shoulder area. Prep room technicians rely on them to manage leaks caused by intravenous (IV) punctures, autopsied arms, skin slips, tissue donation recovery, or severe localized edema, ensuring fluids do not soak into the decedent’s formal viewing clothing or casket lining.

Movement of plastic undergarments can compromise fluid containment. To prevent down-arm slipping, Classic Plastics builds these sleeves with built-in, high-tension elastic bands at two critical anchor points: the wrist opening and the upper arm opening. This creates a gathered, secure seal against the skin that holds its position reliably even when the decedent is lifted, dressed, or adjusted in the casket by transport personnel or funeral directors.

For clean cremation processing, buyers must select the Premium Opaque Polyolefin option instead of standard vinyl. Traditional vinyl contains PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which releases hazardous chlorine gas and corrosive dioxins under extreme heat, violating EPA clean air regulations and damaging crematory retort linings over time. The Premium Polyolefin material is 100% chlorine-free and “Burn Wise” compliant, meaning it incinerates completely clean into trace ash without releasing harmful pollutants.

The selected material class directly influences the final presentation and durability during the embalming and preparation workflow:

  • Standard Vinyl: Offered in clear or white options, this economical choice features a sturdy 8 mil thickness. It provides exceptional puncture resistance but can produce a distinct plastic rustling sound if the arms are moved or adjusted during a wake.

  • Premium Polyolefin: Engineered at a specialized 6 mil thickness, this proprietary “soft touch” fabric has a quiet, matte finish that completely eliminates crinkling sounds under clothing. Despite being thinner, its molecular grid structure makes it three times tougher than standard vinyl, offering maximum defense against jagged bone fragments or sharp autopsy sutures.

Managing Partner
"We found Classic Plastics after we learned the hard that way that ordering products directly from suppliers overseas took a lot of time and effort. We liked the option of being able to order any quantity that we needed - especially because of limited physical space. Shipping usually occurs the next day, and we receive our order just a few days later. The team is very easy to work with, and I highly recommend them."

"In the Public Safety sector, reliability isn't optional; our customers depend on us to have critical equipment available when THEY need it, not when IT'S ready. In that vein, The CP Team has proven time and time again to be a dependable partner - maintaining strong inventory levels and helping us confidently support the agencies and teams we serve."
